My buddy Frank was in town a couple weeks ago to ensure the construction guys were doing a good job on the lighting for the new Cheesecake Factory on the South Side. (It turned out that for once they did everything exactly like they were supposed to.) We went to see Kill Bill v2 -- it's a more 'standard' movie than the first one but still with the same constant homage feel. I like that done well, so I liked the movie. The ending seemed a little cheesy but it was essentially "student masters the master" with a nice dose of humanity as opposed to the typical abstract triumph shots.
I also went to see Hellboy with a couple of co-workers. It was cotton candy -- kinda fun while watching it, fairly forgettable. If you're into tentacles this is the place to be...
