Installing Gentoo on an old laptop

I have an old laptop (P1/166MX) and want to get Win98 off it. I had Redhat installed on it a while ago but before YAPC 2003 installed Win98 to see if I could get the wireless card to work. No dice, and I was left with a crummy OS as a result. (How did people who depended on computers for their livelihood actually use this pile of deuce?)

Anyway, it's time for another presentation (that's the only reason I use the laptop nowadays) and I don't want to rely on Win98. So I figure I've got a couple days, I'll try to stick another distro on there. (Isn't that what everyone thinks?) So begins the fun. Read on...
